is it possible that just about everything we say about the jw's on this forum is true, but on the other hand they would be the only true religion that god approves, even though they are imperfect and make errors?

a few days ago i had the privilege of being invited to a regular pioneer's birthday party.
i met her a couple of weeks ago, and even though she knows i am inactive and have serious doubts, we hit it off on a social level.
so that's why i was invited... .
I know quite a few JWs that in a hush-hush manner celebrate their own as well as their kids' birthdays on a yearly basis.
Be very quite, though! Mom WBTS doesn't approve!!!

there are volumes of wt writings, artist renderings and other material that make it very clear that the wt is eagerly anticipating the mass destruction of governmental, religious and commercial systems, their buildings, along with the billions of people that adhere to them.. combine the wt doctrine with the emotional oppression and enmity created by the divisive, nonconformist practices of the wt and you have the makings of terrorist motivations.. if a jw or group of jws were to ever go ballistic and act out in a massively destructive attack in society, do you think the wt doctrine would be held liable on the world scene?
The WT doctrine teaches its followers to "wait on Jah" and he'll straighten out matters in due time.

jw children have typically a very hard time growing up because of having to be so different from other kids they can't celebrate christmas, easter, birthdays or national holidays can't associate with "worldly" kids because that can ruin good habits, and as teenagers have to suppress sexual urges at the time when they are at their most intense.
they are constantly under pressure and living in a jw environment that's not particularly loving, understanding, or supportive they will probaly tell them: if you feeling down do some more field work to cheer up.
no wonder why so many leave.
I had no friends in the regular school system growing up. I never did any extracurricular activities.
I would've loved to have been on a sports team, or to have learned to play a musical instrument and be in the school band.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! We had the time so occupied in meetings, field service, preparing for meetings, assemblies, and those silly JW get-togethers filled with silly biblical games and other non-interesting stuff.
When a holiday came around we would either not be sent to school, or be sent to school only to spend most of the day at the school library or the principal's office during the celebrations. IT WAS AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear it constitutes emotional abuse on a child. I feel so sorry for the kids of JWs. They're missing so very much!!!

what would it take for you to break up a relationship with someone you really love?
would it be physical abuse, refusing to go out and work, abuse of child, or whatever else?
These are the qualities that stand out the most and for which I would divorce my husband immediately.

we "faded" more than a decade ago.
at least, we began to fade.
it took a few years before they gave up on us.
Hi Cellist!
I'm doing the 'fade' extremelly slowly. Good to hear there are survivors out there.
Be well.

okay okay yes we all hear - well most of us.
but do you ever hear things that you think aren't there.
like this morning i was lying in bed, fully awake and rational, just enjoying the quiet, when i heard this sound "like a rushing wind" (that is the exact thought that came into my mind) when i heard that sound & the thought crossed my mind, so did that scripture in acts where it speaks about when the holy spirit came upon the 120 in the upper room.. and the sound didn't stop - it just carried on.

please, if you went to the convention this year or go later please post the number of individuals baptized.. .
thank you.
I'm very voiceful about youngsters being baptized. Every chance I get hence the labeling 'border-line apostate' by many in my current congregation.
I say that Jesus Christ set the example, and it's clearly stated in the Bible: He dedicated and baptized at an age when he fully understood the commitment and the responsibility it entailed. I've said plenty of times that a kid that can't have full driving priviledges and is not mature enough to have alcoholic beverages then he/she is not mature enough to dedicate his/her life to God or any other organization or endeavor.
Oh, the looks and arguments I've gotten from my reasoning on this subject! However, I've killed them all with the fact that Jesus set the example and asked his followers to do just as he did.
